TRIAC Dimming LED Driver Technology Performance Summary

What kind of TRIAC dimming LED driver technology can meet the full range of global phase dimmers and thyristor dimmers?

A relatively ideal TRIAC dimming LED driver should be:

* Stable without blink;

* Suitable for all the world from 30-630W power range of the phase dimmers, including the former-cut-phase (TRIAC dimming) and post-cut-phase (transistor dimmer);

* Universal LED driver, comparing the efficiency similar to this is difficult;

* Dimming range should be wide due to global differences in a variety of dimmers. Great dimmers dimming their own different scopes require power LED dimmers to dim within a range from 0-100%, and there is a great technical difficulty;

* Dimming soft and in accordance with requirements of the human eye dimming curve;

* Dimming and being constant, that is, the dimmer, when dim, LED current shall be adjusted immediately, while the grid voltage fluctuation (for example, from 176-264V range of fluctuation) and LED current shall be constant or there shall just be very small fluctuations. This is the launch of a dedicated IC vendor, IC does not have this feature, but this function has a fatal effect on LED lights about their heat generation and lifetime! That is, when the grid voltage is high, such as NXP's program, the LED current will rapidly increase and use a much higher value than the normal rated value, and when the grid voltage is low, the LED current is again decreasing sharply, which will cause a serious shortage of illumination.

* The power factor correction;

* Boot overshoot current shall be low;

* You can boot in low light intensity, which is a technical difficulty;

* Dimming response speed, response time shall be less than 0.2 seconds;

* Security isolating design;

* Small size;
