The reason why more and more LED products are widely applied is that LED light source itself has lots of advantages. As we all know, LED light source features energy-saving, long life and no radiation (green light source), but there are several problems related to LED products as follows.
DC power supply should be used
Some manufacturers use "RC-step-down" approach to power LED products to reduce product cost, which will directly affect the life span of LED products. Use special switch power supply (preferably constant current source) to power LED products will not affect the product's life, but the production cost is relatively high.
Anti-static measures should be taken carefully
During the manufacturing process of LED products, anti-static measures should be taken carefully, such as: the worktable should be connected to ground, the workers should wear anti-static clothing, anti-static ring and anti-static gloves, if conditions permits, anti-static ionic fans can be installed, meanwhile ensure the humidity of workshop is about 65% to avoid static, especially the green LED is relatively easier to be damaged by static. In addition, different LED with different quality grades do not have the same antistatic ability, high-quality LED is stronger in anti-static capability.
Please be noticed that the increasement of temperature will reduce the internal resistance of LED
When the external environment temperature increases, internal resistance of LED light source will reduce, the use of regulated power supply will result in higher LED operating current, when the operating current exceeds the rated operating current, it will affect the service life of LED products, more seriously, it may burn out LED light source, so constant current power supply is a better choice to ensure that the operating current of LED current will not be affected by environment temperature.
The sealing of LED products
LED products, as long as they are used for outdoor applications, are faced with waterproof, moisture-proof sealing problem, if not properly handled, it will directly affect the life of LED products. Now a small number of manufacturers who have high quality requirements for products use traditional epoxy resin "watering" method to seal the LED products, which is difficult to operate. For larger LED products (such as LED fence light) it is not very suitable, and it can also cause the increasement of products' weight.
LED fence light control technology
The most widely used control technology of LED fence light currently is the "Serial Communication" means (mainly based on DXM512 protocol). The advantage is that each fence light has no specific "code" , every two can be exchanged randomly to facilitate the production and installation. But its biggest drawback is that once one fence light is damaged, it will directly affect all the fence lights behind the light, just like motor vehicles which run in the single lane highway, if one car breaks down, all the vehicles behind it will be affected and can not operate normally. For hundreds or even thousands of meters of fence light project, because of external factors and the quality of the product itself and other factors, it is difficult to ensure that every fence light can work normally, it is easy to create "traffic jams paralysis" phenomenon.
In addition, The quality of LED light sources in the market vary widely, light sources with good quality features not only high brightness, but also low brightness degradation and strong capability of anti-static, which determine their long life, but their price is several times higher than the cheap LED light sources. We could often see that some LED lighting projects are indeed very beautiful at the beginning, but soon they become "incomplete", and some projects even delay in construction and could not be handed over. Therefore, manufacturers and users should not just grapple in price, Using good quality LED light source, and taking effective technical measures to ensure the quality of LED products is the way out.
