The LED bulb installation requires planning to ensure timely, successful installation with minimal complications and down time./p>
Consult an Electrical Inspector to review all wiring plans.
Create a Layout Plan drawing, per a Lighting Designer's or Architect's recommendation.
Consult FOBSUN Electronics Application Engineering Services as needed.
1. Provide safe accesses to the light fitting, step-ladders are usually adequate. Eye protection is advisable as there will be falling dust when you start.
2. There is no need to remove the whole light fitting; there is a circlip that holds the bulb into the fitting. This may be removed, carefully, using suitable pliers or your thumb and forefinger. Keep the circlip to secure the replacement bulb.
3. With the circlip removed, the bulb should drop down about 1/4"; you may need to gently manipulate the bulb.
4. Once the bulb has dropped below the light fitting, grip it between your thumb and forefinger and rotate it 90 degrees anticlockwise. Do not try and force it any further, you may need to rotate the bulb back and forth (gently) through 90 degrees before it loosens from it's fitting. The bulb will drop out when it is free, don't try to pull it out, be patient, and rotate it back and forth through 90 degrees.
5. If you are using a halogen bulb as a replacement, make sure the light switch is turned off; the bulb will heat up rapidly and burn your fingers if the power is on.
6. You will need a clear view of the bulb receptacle, orientate the pins on the bulb to align with the fitting. Gently offer the bulb up (about 1/8") and rotate the bulb back and forth about 15 degrees or so. Be patient, if the bulb doesn't engage at your first attempt take it back out and visually realign the pins again. When you feel the pins enter the fitting, rotate the bulb 90 degrees clockwise to lock it into the fitting.
7. Gently push the bulb up into the light fitting with the thumb of your left hand, re-inset the circlip with your right hand (squeeze the circlip and feed in the closed end first), opposite if you are a lefty.
8. Flick the light switch to check the bulb is working. If it doesn't light or is flickering, you will need to remove the circlip and gently rotate the bulb back and forth through 15 degrees, or so, to establish a good electrical connection between the bayonets of the bulb and the light fitting. When done, replace the circlip.
