Part 1: Technical Questions
Q: Can I use Signage fixtures outdoors?
A: Yes, a part of SignageTM lighting devices which IP rating is IP64 can be used for close channel letters or indoors, only IP rating is IP67 can be used outdoors.
Q: What's the operation voltage? Can it operate on 24v dc?
A: Most Signage lighting operates on 12v d, but we can custom design to work on 24v d.
Q: Can I cut the strip into smaller length?
A: Yes, for most 12v d SignageTM fittings can be cut at every 3 LEDs, it is easy to fit any different channel letters; For most 24v dc settings can be cut each 6 LEDs.
Q: Can you provide power supply to it?
A: Yes, the related power supply is 12 VDC MaxpowerTM LED Power Supply.
Q: Can the LED strips be cut or trimmed?
A: Yes! You can easily cut the LED strips on cut mark.
Q: Once cut, is the strip still waterproof?
A: If you cut it right, it will maintain a degree of "weather resistance". But to make a cut strip fully waterproof again, we recommend you add some silicone sealant to the cut end.
Q: Which is anode and positive pole?
A: The Red wire is 12v +, and the Black wire is 12v -, please be assure the correct connection, if you reverse them, it can work.
Q: Can a dimmer work on led signage lighting?
A: Yes, Our all fixtures can be dimmed by dimmers we supplied. As for single color fixtures, we have related single color dimmer. So you can dim them in 10 lighting grade.
Q: What about LEDs power consumption?
A: Each Led bulb is around 0.06 watt (Blue, Green, White) and 0.04 watt (red, Yellow), we can find led is a bright choice for energy-saving.
Q. Are LEDs affected by extreme working conditions?
A: Yes, it will affect/minus LEDs’ lifetime as LED working in extreme conditions.
Q: Can I cut signage lightings fitted with applications?
A: Yes, generally speaking, 3 LEDs as group for all 12V powered fixtures, 6 LEDs as a group for all 24V powered fixtures, so you will see cut mark here, it can be cut off on marks. Please do not power before you cut off and re-wired in correct polarity
Q: I want to use them in a solar application, are they available in 4.5 voltages?
A: Most fixtures are worked under 12V DC, also we can customize for special voltage input.
Q: Can you connect the RGB strips or ribbons without the controller? Would you solder the 4 leads of the strips and how to connect the 4 wires to get power?
A: We supplied all devices come with common positive. If you connect the RGB strips without a controller, please make sure common line connected to positive lines, and all the colors (red, green, and blue) to be soldered at cathode port.
Q: What LED Lights are recommended for an aquarium?
A: The waterproofed LED Modules and waterproofed strips Series.
Q: What is the difference between a diffused and a non-diffused LED?
A: The diffused LED contains minute particles that distribute light more evenly, illuminating a wider viewing area. The typical viewing angle is above ±60 deg. While a non-diffused LED, which contains no particles, creates a narrow, more focused beam with a typical viewing angle of under ± 15 deg.
Q: Adaptor (or converter) - What is it and Why I need it with my LED?
A: As we all know, general LEDs have to work in DC. Adaptors are also called converters or power adapters, which are devices, can transfer AC to DC. It is able to transform high voltage (120V AC, 240V AC etc) to low voltage (12/24V DC) at which your LED can operate well.
Q: If I know the exact voltage across my led devices, can I worked out the exact current and how?
A: Yes, you are able to work out in theory, not exactly. As you know the voltage across the LED that wills loss some energy gradually due to voltage loss, LEDs have high mobility inside the semiconductor crystal emitting the light. This means they are quite unpredictable as to finding out the exact resistance at a certain voltage; therefore we can test the exact current flowing through your LED by apparatus only.
Q: Can LED Strip light run on batteries?
A: Yes. You should look for the sets which are specifically labeled as being wired for Direct Current (DC). Of the battery-powered (DC) sets, LEDs themselves are diodes, thus work nicely on DC. However, you have to assure that they worked in suitable related input voltage; they will be damaged as voltage or current overload.
Q: If one LED bulb goes out, do the rest stay lighted?
A: Regarding signage lightings with 12V DC power, if one bulb failed, it will caused 2 results, one is a group of 3 LEDs died in all due to this LED power off; the other is 1 LED died, the rest 2 LEDs will stay lighted. Although this LED dead, the current is expediting, the others (2LEDs) will stay lighted. Each group is wired electrically parallel to main lines.
Q: The intensity on your spec is measured at mcd (mill candela). How can I convert mcd to lumens?
A: There is no direct conversion between the two units. Luminous Intensity measured in Candela or Mill candela is the light output in a particular direction. While Luminous Flux measured in Lumens is the total light output in all direction, So this represents an illumination of 1 lux =1Lm/m2.
Q: Why do colors look more vibrant under LED light?
A: LEDs illuminates people and surroundings in color-rich light. It’s not your imagination – its science. Our LED lights have a higher color rendering do look more natural than CCFL, so everything under them looks more vibrant and lifelike. Choose warm or cool white lighting; warm lighting gives a traditional and luxurious feeling that homeowners have come to expect. Cool lighting creates an effective work environment or brings a contemporary look to a home without the hotspots or glare. You can now experience all the benefits of incandescent lighting, without high energy costs or environmental impact.
Q: What is the average life of an LED lamp?
A: LED lamps on average have a life span of greater than 50,000 hrs. This means that they have 50 times longer than incandescent lights and 12 times longer than fluorescents.
Q: What is color of signage lightings available?
A: LED strips available for red, yellow, blue, green and white, also we supply RGB mixed color, namely 3 chips (1 red, 1 blue, 1 green sealed in same lens). We can customize special color as your request, such as amber, pink, purple etc…

Q:What if I have a question that’s not covered in this list of questions?
A: Email us.
Q: why should I replace the conventional lights with LED?
A: The main targets are both white, including warm white light sources and color light sources. The latest LED technology opens up wide areas for new applications, new technical possibilities and reduced costs. The main advantages of the state of the art LED light sources are:
(1) The life time of an LED reaches or frequently exceeds the life time of the application and there are often no special changes necessary. If one defines the failure criteria as end of life when the light intensity of an LED has reached 50 % of the initial light intensity, depending on the model, one can calculate numerical life times above 100,000 hours for LED Chips based on GaAs.
(2) In the case of colored light the power consumption is below the power consumption of white light sources with filter glass (see table below). White LEDs can now reach the level of fluorescent triphosphore tubes and standard white LEDs show a better efficiency than incandescent or halogen lamps.
(3) The radiant intensity of an LED is controllable in the whole range without any change in the light properties (e.g. dimming of incandescent lamps leads to a shift in color temperature) and any time loss (switching time of LEDs for general lightening < 1 μs). The PWM (pulse width modulation) is the recommended method for the dimming of LEDs. Dimming by reduced DC current may lead to inhomogeneous appearance of LED arrays.
(4) Compared to the high efficient light sources of fluorescent tubes, compact lamps and metal halide high-pressure lamps the switching time of LEDs is very short. This plays an important role especially for applications like head lamps and brake lights in automotive and traffic applications.
(5) LEDs provide excellent stability for mechanical and thermal stress. The reliability of an LED is described by the different failure mechanisms, the spontaneous total failure of the LED and the reduced light intensity of the LED. To calculate the reliability of an LED array one should use the data for spontaneous failure. They should be in the range of 10 ppm/h within the first hour of operation including solder processes and below 0, 1 ppm after the first hours of usage.
Q:What is IP Rating's?
A: The Ingress protection system is an international standard and allows you to easily see how resistant a product is to different environmental elements.
Q: What is lumen?
A: Lumen is amount of light emitted from light source.
According to Wikipedia, "If a light source emits one candela of luminous intensity into a solid angle of one steradian, the total luminous flux emitted into that solid angle is one lumen. Alternatively, an isotropic one-candela light source emits a total luminous flux of exactly 4π lumens. The lumen can be thought of casually as a measure of the total amount of visible light emitted." For example, a standard 100 Watt incandescent bulb emits about 1500 lumen.
Q: What is Lux?
A: Lux is lumen per square meter.
According to Wikipedia, "The difference between the lux and the lumen is that the lux takes into account the area over which the luminous flux is spread. 1000 lumens, concentrated into an area of one square meter, lights up that square meter with an illuminance of 1000 lux. The same 1000 lumens, spread out over ten square meters, produce a dimmer illuminance of only 100 lux."
